MCCI appeals for food testing lab in Mokokchung

Dimapur, May 14 (EMN): Mokokchung Chamber of Commerce & Industry (MCCI) has resolved to appeal to the state government to immediately provide a food testing lab in Mokokchung, which would also serve the other neighbouring districts. The organisation also resolved to streamline the second-hand goods business and to demand the Mokokchung Municipal Council (MMC) to embargo issuing of temporary trade permit to ILP holders in Mokokchung town for a one-year period. MCCI general secretary, Limalenden Longkumer, stated that the resolutions were taken during its annual general meeting on May 14 in the premises of MMC complex. He added that all shops and business establishments remained close during the meeting hours. Other highlights of the meeting included presentation and approval of audit report, general report, nominating committee report, and a short speech by former president and senior advisor of MCCI, MB Longkumer. The general secretary also informed the business community members present to be aware of the ongoing advocacy process to ban all single-use plastic items and disposables in Mokokchung. At the call of the president, the house also observed a minute of silence in respect and honour of departed members. The house also nominated the following office bearers for the tenure 2019-22. The office bearers are Tsukti Longkumer as president, Imkongchuba Longkumer as vice president, Limalenden Longkumer as general secretary, Lanuakum Lemtur as assistant secretary, and Sanjeev Kumar Beniwal as finance secretary.
