DIMAPUR — Model Christian College (MCC) and Model Higher Secondary High School (MHSS) jointly organised their 1st annual inter-school Science fair on September 16 on the theme "The role of Science and Technology to combat climate change."
[bsa_pro_ad_space id=1]An update from MCC stated that the event began with a prayer said by SP Francis, managing director of the institutes, followed by a welcome address delivered by Nengpilhing Singson, convenor of Science Fair.
It stated that a short speech was delivered by Onongoto Soleho, chief mentor of Innovation Hub and Space Education Centre, Kohima, Nagaland. In his speech, Soleho mentioned that climate change has become a reality and that Science and Technology play a vital role in combating environmental issues.
He challenged the participants to take small yet effective measures in order to bring positive results. The speaker also declared the Science Fair opened.
The judges were Onongoto Soleho; Dr. L Kenneth Punyü, associate professor of Chemistry and In-charge of EVS Kohima Science College, Jotsoma; and Dr. MhathangYanthan, associate professor of Botany department at Kohima Science College, Jotsoma.
It stated that Model Higher Secondary School was declared the winner of the Science Fair for the model on revolutionised solutions to combat climate change, followed by Mt. Sinai Higher Secondary School and Modern Higher Secondary School in the 1st and 2nd runners-up.
[bsa_pro_ad_space id=1]In the inter-departmental competition, Zoology department won the 1st position for the model on bio-plastic, while Geology and Chemistry departments won the 2nd and 3rd positions respectively.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Pezavituo Dzüvichü, co-convener of Science fair committee.
