DIMAPUR — The Mbaupungwa Lui Student's Union (MLSU) celebrated its golden jubilee on Friday at Mbaupungwa village under Tening sub-division, Peren district, with Deputy Chief Minister TR Zeliang as chief host, Deputy Commissioner of Peren, Hiazu Meru as special guest, and DIPR Joint Director Igwanglia Simon Teilia as guest of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, the deputy CM extended greetings to the MLSU on the momentous occasion of its golden jubilee marking 50 years of dedicated service to the student community, an update stated.
Zeliang lauded the union for its enduring contribution to nurturing leadership and championing the rights and aspirations of students over the past five decades.
He also said that golden jubilee is not merely a celebration of longevity but a tribute to generations of young leaders who have upheld democratic values, inclusivity and social responsibility.

Highlighting the role of youth in society building, Zeliang emphasised that student's are the driving force of progress and innovation.
He also said that backwardness is not by choice but situational and urged the students to dream big, set target, and do away with dependent mindset but strive to translate his or her own dream into reality.
The deputy CM further encouraged the union to continue serving as constructive platform for dialogue, creativity and positive development.
The occasion marked by cultural extravaganzas and other literary activities.
