Dimapur, Jan. 23: The 10th sports meet of the Mon Area Students’ Union (MASU) culminated on January 21 at Mon town local ground with Loungai, president KSU, as the guest of honour.
Speaking at the closing programme, Loungai emphasised that sportspersons should have respect, cooperation and discipline. Stating that games and sports are also part of education, he encouraged the participants to take sports seriously.
He further added that every student is a future leader, he encouraged them to work hard for all round development and bring laurel to the society.
Altogether 8 teams participated in the MASU sports meet. The events included football for men, volley ball for both men and women, sepak takraw for both men and women, and athletics for both men and women such as high jump, long jump, 100 metre race and 400 metre relay.
Mon Town Students’ Union (MTSU) won the overall championship, while Chi Students’ Union (CSU) bagged the runners-up prize.
Earlier, the programme was chaired by Amos and Phelem, pastress of New Site Fellowship, said the invocation while Nokon T/Chingkho presented a special song. The union games and sports secretary gave away the prizes and delivered the vote of thanks.
