Mokokchung, Feb. 20 (EMN): The 3rd Master Shield Trophy organised by Mokokchung District T20 Cricket Federation (MDT20CF) got underway at the Imkongmeren Sports Complex, Mokokchung on Wed. Feb. 20.
The tournament was officially declared open by chief match patron, Sharingain Longkumer, General Manager and Managing Partner, Eastern Mirror.
Speaking during the inaugural function, the chief match patron asked the gathering to have ‘Esprit De Corps.’ He said the spirit of brotherhood and oneness may probably be the essence of every sport.
Longkumer also added that it is through sports and associations like MDT20CF that provide a training platform for the young generation to train and build life skills like teamwork, leadership qualities, strong temperament and character, collective responsibility ,and a common goal.
In this regard, Longkumer also asserted that such fundamental life skills are very much needed in a progressive and fast-paced age.
He also called upon the Naga family to take an example from the profession of sports to encourage one another as a Naga without any prejudice, and to create a vision; a common goal that is rooted in the fundamentals of brotherhood and oneness to bring change in the manner that is aspired by all the Nagas.
Longkumer asserted that ‘change is constant’ and change will come but change in the society will come only if the people participate and give their time and presence for the achievement and success of a ‘common goal or collective vision.’
Meanwhile, an exhibition match was played between the MDT20CF and Mokokchung Town Lanur Telongjem (MTLT). The chief match patron also participated in the match representing MDT20CF.
