MOKOKCHUNG — On the second day of the Master Imchaba Memorial Open Volleyball Trophy 2023, Spartan Club Lakhuni secured its first win against Tongden Club B Chungtia by a score of 25-16, 25-13.
[bsa_pro_ad_space id=1]G Sport Mokokchung was defeated by the tournament's dark horse, Chienino Brothers Kiruphema, Kohima. Kiruphema won the first set 25-23. However, G Sport Mokokchung came back strongly in the second set, winning 25-15 to send the match to the deciding set, which Chienino Brothers won 15-10.
Kumlong Sporting Association defeated Evergreen Club Ungma 25-19, 25-20, while JN Aier Memorial Club Yajang C defeated FAC 26-24, 25-8.
Ozümi Volleyball Team defeated Archippus Club Dimapur in straight sets of 25-14, 25-18, securing their third consecutive win in pool C and entering the knockout stage.
Longsa Sporting Club was defeated by United Changki by scores of 25-23, 12-25, and 10-15. Longsa won the second set after losing the first. Longsa led in the decisive set, but Changki chased the scoreboard to stay in the game.
Peren District Volleyball Association stole the spotlight from Kumlong Ward to secure their second Pool D win. Kumlong dominated the first set, winning by a score of 25-21. However, Peren came back stronger in the second set, winning 25-12. Peren also won the decisive set 15-10.
Changtongya Volleyball Association 'A' defeated Spartan Club Lakhuni by scores of 25-19, 25-7. Changtongya now has one match remaining against G Sports, Mokokchung, which will be a game of do or die for both teams.
After losing to Chienino Brothers Kiruphema in their previous match, newcomer G Sports Mokokchung thrashed Tongden Club B 25-6, 25-10.
The Champion MH10 had no trouble defeating Ever Club Ungma, winning clean straight sets by 25-14, 25-14.
Kumlong Sporting Association, the Inter Ward Volleyball Tournament champion, secured its second victory. They defeated JN Aier Memorial Club Yajang C by scores of 25-17, 25-16.
Kumlong has won two matches and lost one against defending champion MH10. They have one match left, which could determine whether or not they advance to the knockout stage.
The Ozumi Volleyball team continues to dominate Pool C. They defeated Tongpang Club Tzurangkong 25-10, 25-10, to claim the top spot in Pool C and a berth in the knockout stage.
