Dimapur, October 1: Ostensibly, the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan (Clean India Mission) was a complete success today with the participation of all concerned including political parties, civil societies and educational institutions in a mass social work in their respective jurisdiction. Different organisations and educational institutions across the State have reported on the successful implementation of the programme to media houses today.
In the first instance, Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) of 37 Tiyi AC, in association with 38 Wokha AC, initiated a social work in repairing the Wokha Hospital starting from Daily Market. The road has left in a pitiable condition for a long time causing immense inconvenience to the people.
Dr. TM Lotha, Advisor of Treasuries & Accounts, Relief & Rehabilitation; Chupathung Odyuo, State BJP central executive member; Renponthung Ezung, State executive council member have participated in the social work.
Welcoming the VIPs and the volunteers, Amos Humtsoe, president BJYM 38 Wokha AC, gave a brief introduction regarding the social work, which was followed with the reading of the Bible by Zurenthung Humtsoe, WTBC youth director.Dr.TM Lotha greeted the people and thanked the BJYM for initiating good work. He said, “The main objective of the BJP is to bring peace, welfare and development in the society and to uplift every district and the State as a whole. Speaking on the Swachh Bharat launched by PM Narendra Modi, he said cleanliness should begin from one’s own home. He also encouraged every individual to play their role for the uplift of the society rather than depending on the government for every developmental work.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by the BJYM president of 37 Tiyi AC, Nchumbemo Jungio. The BJYM, has meanwhile, thanked Dr. TM Lotha, Chupathung Odyuo, Renponthung Ezung, Pankathung Ezung, Yanpvutsson Ezung, Y Avanthung Ezung, Vungoju and Molonsu colonies youth and all the people who came forward to make the social work a grand success.
Similarly, a massive cleanliness drive was conducted as part of Swachh Bharat Mission on October 1 by members of St. Thomas Mission Society and students of MGM Higher Secondary School along with the teachers in the school premises. The members have cleaned the road sides along Midland Colony, Kerala Samajam, MGOS Church, United Baptist Church, MGM B.Ed college, Rotary Club, SEWAK main gate area etc.
About 1100 students including the teachers have participated in the mission.
Addressing the morning assembly, Fr. PS Vareghese, School Principal, highlighted on the importance of Gandhi Jayanti and Swatch Bharat mission. He asserted that cleanliness should start from oneself and added that clean habit should spread to family and society at large.
He further told that we should keep our home and surroundings clean to have a healthy life.
Also as directed by the district administration, the Hazi Park Businessmen Welfare Committee (HPBWC) organised a cleanliness drive in the market area as part of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. All the shops were closed till 10 AM during the mass social work.
Meanwhile, HPBWC has thanked the business community of the entire area for participation and cooperation extended towards the noble cause.
In a separate programme, Pranab Vidyapith Higher Secondary School, Dimapur, participated in the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan on October 1. The cleanliness drive started at 8 a.m. The students of primary section cleaned the whole school building, while the students of higher secondary section joined the drive at 11 a.m. Both the school buildings and the surrounding areas were cleaned by the students. The drive continued upto 1:00 p.m.
