- DIMAPUR — The
Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Dimapur, has issued a circular announcing a
mass social work across Dimapur district on May 31, starting from 6 am, as part
of a pre-monsoon preparedness initiative.
- According to a DIPR report, in light of the approaching
monsoon, the social work aims to address crucial sanitation and drainage
concerns.
- The effort will focus on the unclogging of drains, clearance
of construction debris, foliage removal, proper waste disposal, and general
upkeep of public spaces and utilities.

- Both government offices and private institutions in the
district are to mobilise their staff to clean their premises, and citizens are
encouraged to clean their houses, neighbourhoods, and drainage systems.
Shopkeepers must ensure cleanliness around their establishments. Village
councils and GBs are tasked with supervising the drives in their areas.
- The Dimapur Municipal Council, East Dimapur Town Council,
and respective village councils will oversee the disposal of garbage and
debris.
- All shops and business establishments have been instructed
to remain closed till 9:00 am on the day of social work. A helpline
number—9615217798 (Wapang Longchar, DMC)—has also been provided for
coordination and queries.
- DC Dimapur Dr. Tinojongshi Chang has underscored the
importance of community participation in ensuring effective sanitation measures
ahead of the monsoon season. He has also imposed no work, no pay for all the
government employees, and the attendance is to be submitted to the SDO (C).
