
DIMAPUR — As part of 'Safai Apnao-Bimari Bhagao' campaign a mass cleanliness drive was successfully conducted across Nagaland on Saturday.
‘Safai Apnao Bimari Bhagao’ campaign emphasises comprehensive interventions such as cleanliness drives, advocacy and inter-departmental collaboration to be executed by all urban local bodies.
The primary goal is to promote cleanliness and combat diseases, a critical endeavour during the monsoon season. The campaign is being observed from July 15 to August 31.
Tening: In Tening town under Peren district, residents from all the nine wards have cleaned public spaces, roads, collected wastes and disposed them off.
Head of offices, educational institutions, wards authorities, GBs and members of traders’ union actively participated in the cleanliness drive.
Pungro: In a related programme, resident of Pungro town under Kiphire district organised a mass social work. The participants engaged in cleaning public spaces and also organised health awareness programme.
The event was organised by town leaders with an aim to address local needs and foster community spirit.
Meanwhile, the organisers have expressed gratitude to the volunteers and sought continued support even in the days to come. It stated that the event was a success as it reflected the residents’ commitment to their town’s welfare.
Wokha: The general secretary of Pig Dealers’ Union Wokha (PDUW), Thungbemo Yanthan, informed that the union members have conducted a social work for road maintenance from Police Point to mother church WTBC in Wokha town. He informed that the union would continue to contribute in road maintenance work in Wokha town wherever required even in the future.
Lungwiram: Residents of Lungwiram village in Dimapur district also conducted a mass social work along the village approach road. Residents irrespective of age actively participated in the social work.
Besides clearing the overgrown foliage, participants planted flower plants along the road.
