A person from Phek district is in the custody of Kohima police after enforcement personnel found a cache of liquor in the vehicle the detained person was driving. The Kohima police issued a press release on Wednesday information about the day’s enforcement activities.
A team of personnel of the Kohima Anti Vehicle Theft Squad, mobile units and the District Executive Force undertook routine checking of vehicles on national highway-2 at Kisama village, near Kohima town on April 12.
During the enforcement drive, the personnel detained on suspicion the driver of a Maruti 800. The vehicle bore the registration NL-01C-2537.
“During search, 165 bottles of assorted IMFL was recovered from the vehicle which was concealed inside a special compartment, built underneath the body of the vehicle for transporting illegal items.
Moreover, on scrutiny, it was ascertained that, the engine and chassis number mentioned in the RC book did not tally with the one engraved on the vehicle,” the Kohima police said.
Possibly the driver of the vehicle (the press release did not specify), one person has been detained by the police. The person has been identified as one Pfutselo alias Atso Tepfo, a 20 year old from Leshemi village in Pfutsero of Phek district, has been taken into police custody.
“In this connection, a regular case vide Khuzama P.S Case No. 0014/2016 U/S 471 IPC r/w 44 B NLTP Act is registered against the arrested person,” the police stated.
