Kohima, Sep. 23 (EMN): Meriema Village Youth Organisation (MVYO) and Young Rising Star FC registered win to move into the round of 32 of the 20th edition of NSF Martyrs’ Memorial Trophy at the Kohima local ground (Khuochiezie) on Monday, September 23.
Playing the second match of the tournament and first match of the day (Monday), MVYO humiliated Fantastic FC 7-1.
Vizotuolie Lhousi opened the scoring for MVYO in the 8th minute while Lengougin Hangsing netted a goal in the 20th minute that turned to be the lone goal for Fantastic FC.
In no time, Vikedoulie Lhousi scored another goal for MVYO in the 23rd minute and Khrieneituo Kezieo scored a long distance goal in the 27th minute to make it 3-1.
As the countdown began for the whistle of the first half, Kevirutuo Usou’s goal in the 39th minute made it 4-1 for MVYO.
After the breather, Vizotuolie Lhousi scored his second goal in the 58th minute and as the match went on Ruokovolie Phewhuo scored another goal in the 65th minute. Vizotuolie Lhousi scored his third goal in the 69th minute to become the second hat-trick scorer of the tournament.
The second match for the day was however, a competitive one as Kijumetouma Village Students Union (KVSU) took on Young Rising Stars FC with supportive spectators over the corners cheering for their teams.
Shevosayi Vero of Young Rising Star opened the scoring in the 13th minute followed by another goal by Nusezo Kezo in the 29th minute of the first half. In the second half, Johnny scored a goal for KVSU in the 45th minute and within a few minute gap, Salu scored the much needed goal for KVSU in 48th minute to equalise and make it 2-2.
With the scores locked at 2-2 the match had to be decided through a tie-breaker where Young Rising Star FC beat KVSU 4-2.
