Kohima, Oct. 8 (EMN): Chumu Town Youth Organisation (STYO) and Kohima Village Students’ Union (KVSU) entered the quarterfinals of the ongoing 20th edition of the NSF Martyrs’ Memorial Trophy by winning their respective matches on Tuesday at Kohima local ground.
Khiusumew opened the count for the STYO in the 21st minute before Limakumzuk added one more in the 64
th minute to seal the match against Amicis Unitum FC. L Nokoi scored the lone goal for the Amicis Unitum FC in the 68th minute.
With the victory, the STYO will take on the Centurion FC in the quarterfinals match on October 10 at1:30 pm.
The second match of the day was played between Kohima Village Students’ Union (KVSU) and Phesama Youth Organisation. The teams were locked in a goalless draw when the final whistle blew. The KVSU eventually won the tie-breaker 5-3 to qualify for the quarter finals.
Mezhüsietuo of KVSU was handed a yellow card during the day’s matches.
With the win, the KVSU will take on MVYO, Meriema on October 11 at 1:30 pm.
Exhibition match on Wednesday
Meanwhile, an exhibition match will be played between the Angami Students' Union and Angami Youth Organisation on October 9, Wednesday at 2:00 pm.
The Angami Students’ Union officials -- president Vizokho Zashumo and information and publicity secretary -- informed that the occasion will be graced by Vilelie Khamo (Super Contractor) as the match patron. They added that the intention of the exhibition match is to bring the Angami people from both the fraternity together and has invited all the seniors from both the frontal organisations and well-wishers to witness the match.
