Dimapur, Aug. 30 (EMN): A roadside marketing shed at Kamdi bazaar in Beisumpuikam village in Peren district was inaugurated on August 28 by the DRDA project director, Peren, Keyirangding Hegui.
The marketing shed was constructed by North East Rural Livelihood Project (NERLP) under the ministry of DONER and supported by World Bank. The INR 10,02,000 project was constructed with the support of INR 9,53,200 from NERLP and INR 48,000 contribution from the community.
Speaking at the inaugural function, the project director congratulated the Beisumpuikam village council and the self help groups’ village federation for the success in completing the project on time. While pointing out that soil in Peren district is the most fertile among other districts of Nagaland, he encouraged the villagers to explore the potentials and generate income through organic cultivation practices. He discouraged on the use of any chemicals fertilisers and insecticides.
The project director assured to set up a soya bean and mustard oil extraction unit, maize/ chilli grinding unit, and Naga chilly and other spices drying unit (solar dryer) in Beisumpuikam village.
NERLP district project manager, Ruuvilie Kotsu, said the inauguration of roadside marketing shed was an example of how difficult thing could be achieved through the ownership taken by community. He informed that roadside marketing shed in Beisumpuikam village was the first to complete out of five such projects under NERLP.
The program was chaired by Pingkham, VCC Libemphai, while the invocation was said by Hangar Disaung, pastor of New Beisumpuikam, and the welcome address was delivered by Tadibe, VCC Beisumpuikam.
The vote of thanks was pronounced by GB of Sinlak village and the benediction was said by Pansam Newme.
