Mar Gregorios Memorial Higher Secondary School sports meet

Dimapur, September 26: Mar Gregorios Memorial Higher Secondary School, Dimapur conducted a two-day sports meet on October 24 and 26 based on the theme “We are one”. While inaugurating the event, Fr. PS Varghese, principal of the school, emphasized the importance of sports and games in student’s life along with academic. He also maintained that sports and music are the two developed arenas in Nagaland, yet people were not groomed in the desired way. Like other profession, sports are also giving livelihood to many.Sportsperson must be disciplined, dedicated and determined to achieve his/her goals; while attending these competitions, team spirit has to be developed. It must go beyond classes and divisions, said Varghese During the sports meet, the students were divided into 4 groups namely Will, Power, Courage and Might. On Saturday, Indoor games like chess, carrom board and table tennis were conducted, while on Monday, games such as volleyball, basketball, badminton were organised in the school premises. At the end of the sports meet, Courage team took the champions trophy.
