Kohima, Jan. 8: Thousands of people from Mao community celebratedChithuni festival on January 7 at Naga Solidarity Park, Kohima. The programme was organised by Mao Union Kohima (MUK).
Advisor of MUK, H. Lokho while highlighting the significance of Chithuni festival, said Chithuni is the celebration of the achievements of the past year.
Dr. Loso in his exhortation said celebrating Chithuni has significance as it isthe opportunity to preserve the culture.
The programme commenced withChithuni blessing, invoked by former president MUK, M. Kaikho. President MUK, L. Athikho delivered welcome address and extended Chithuni greetings to gathering, while vote of thanks was proposedby the convenor of the celebration committee, E. Krelo and benediction waspronounced by pastor MBCK Rev. Losii Mao. Cultural items were presented by Mao Students’ Union Kohima and other cultural troupes.
