Dimapur, Feb. 9: The fact finding committee of Konyak Union (KU) has amicably resolved to let Manlip Konyak continue as KU president in upholding unity and integrity of Konyak populace.
The decision to this effect was taken during meeting of 8 member fact finding committee consisting representatives from Konyak Baptist Bumeinok Bangjum (KBBB), Konyak Nyupuh Sheko Khong (KNSK), Konyak Students’ Union (KSU), KU executive and Advisory board along with Mon unit KU, its advisory board, 11 ward presidents and the GBs of Mon town on February 8.
The committee meticulously conducted a post mortem upon the recent press accusation dated 6th Feb 2017 against the demand for ouster of S Manlip Konyak as president of Konyak Union (KU).
On the confession admitted by the president Mon unit KU that his name was appended without his consent and the GBs of Mon town for dragging their name in the press media, the committee had discovered that the press statement was made without the due consent of masses but was doctored. The Committee outrightly declared that the press accusation was “unconstitutional” and a direct threat to the constitution of the Konyak Union.
Upholding unity and integrity of the Konyak society, the committee strictly directed both parties to restrain/refrain from further justification through press. ‘Such measures were initiated through mutual understanding, respect and utmost honour on the sanctity of the constitution,’ committee convenor Yuhwang Konyak and secretary Honang M Konyak said in a joint statement.
The committee declared that every executive moves of the KU president was found to be in tuned to the resolution of the Konyak Union advisory board council. It said the press accusation was proven baseless and a cruel act attempted upon a bonafide Konyak leader.
The committee extended utmost appreciation to the Mon Unit KU office bearers, its advisory board, ward presidents of Mon town for their stance in tune with the constitution of the Konyak Union (KU).
Stating that Konyak Union has its own established code of law, the Committee declared that any individual found deviating from such noble code shall face the consequence as per the law of the land.
