Kinshasa, June 28: A Manipur Cultural Troupe captivated the crowd of Democratic Republic of Congo(DRC) on Monday, reports reaching here said.
Artists of the Lianda Folk and Classical Academy, Nagamapal Soram Leirak, Imphal led by Soram Sharat Singh (Akabi) was performing on the ongoing Cultural Festival held in Kinshasa in the African country.
The Festival is organized by Indian Council for Cultural Relations, New Delhi and Indian Embassy in Democratic Republic of Congo with Indian Communities living there from June 25 to 28. Cultural groups from different states of DRC also participated in the Festival. The Governor of Kinshasa Andrew Kimbuta in the presence of SK Ashok Warrier, Indian Ambassador to Congo, Environment Minister of Kinshasa, Cultural Minister of Kinshasa, Diplomatic Government officials of DRC and Embassies of different Countries formally inaugurated the festival at Amphitheatre Du Verdure, Kinshasa on Monday.
The Manipuri team performed a series of colourful traditional dance forms including Lai Haraoba dance followed by Kom Dance, Kabui Dance, and Drums of Holi during the festival. Similar performances will also be organised at different places in Congo. On closing day, the troupe will present their special composed dance sequence at the State of Lubumbashi, Congo, sources added.
