Imphal, Dec. 18 (EMN): Manipur’s Tourism department team has won the best poster by state government award 2022 at the 37th edition of the Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATO) annual convention in Uttar Pradesh.
The 37th IATO annual convention, which is one of the most important travel events in the country, is being held at Lucknow from December 16 to the 19th.
The state’s Tourism department director, W Ibohal Singh, including officials from the Tourism Corporation of Manipur Ltd., and tour operators from the state attended the convention.
The chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath, presented the award to the Tourism director at an event attended by the who’s who of the travel industry.
The awards are determined by an evaluation process led by evaluators along with a panel comprising IATO members from the 20 participating states of India.
“We are delighted with the recognition given to us by IATO. Acknowledgements like this helps motivate and inspire us to promote our state through a kaleidoscope of our local culture, our varied tribes and their colourful festivals,” said Ibohal Singh. “We will take our promotional efforts to the next level this year and look forward to receiving more recognition from the industry in other areas as well,” he added.
The 3-day event is being attended by stakeholders of the travel industry, hospitality sector, corporates and government officials.
In another development, as part of the 70th year of the diplomatic relations between India and Japan, Manipur Tourism Forum (MTF) and the Imphal Peace Museum (IPM) will be organising a book launch function at IPM premises at Nambol on December 20.
“We have been engaging in Japanese-English translation of the official Japanese publications of the war history series know as ‘Senshi-socho’, published during 1950-1980’s by the current National Institute of Defense Studies, Japan, an MTF statement read.
SPF’s SenshiSōsho project focuses specifically on the volumes which are relevant to the study of the Japanese attack on the present territories of India, which means the current Manipur and Nagaland in 1944. SenshiSōsho has 102 volumes in total, but only a few volumes have been translated into English so far, the statement added.
