Imphal, Dec. 27 (EMN): Manipur team bagged first runner-up title in the 14th Mr. India Men’s senior national body building & physique sports championship 2022, held at Ludhiana in Punjab from December 23 to the 25th.
The overall championship title went to Railways Sports Promotion Board team which secured 315 points while Manipur team received 125 points.
Informing this, general secretary of All Manipur Body Builders’ Association (AMBBA), Yumlembam Sunanta, said that Manipur team secured three gold and two silver medals in the three-day national championship, participated by more than 550 athletes representing 27 states and seven government sports boards.
“Manipur team’s first runner-up title in the senior level is a great achievement in the last 72 years (from 1950) in the body building movement in the state,” Sunanta said.
The three gold medal winner state athletes include Mr. Manipur 2022 title holder, 28-year-old Maradona Kshetrimayum of Muscle Factory, Kakching, in 90kg category; Maibam Robart Singh of Sangai Fitness Centre, Kakching, in Men’s fitness physique competition and L Neta of UGM Naoremthong in 55kg men’s bodybuilding competition, while the two silver medalists are second position holder in Mr Manipur 2022 contest, Melson Nongmeikapam in 100kg category and Joyjeet Waikhom in open competition, both from Royal Gym Ningomthong. The lone fourth position holder from Manipur in Men’s sports physique in 165cm category was Warshim Chesam of RCC YAS.
