With the Imphal based tourist (night super bus services) bus service operators going on a cease work strike today, the normal bus services between Imphal and other important towns of the North East states was paralyzed.
All Manipur Night Super Driver Welfare Association (AMNSDWA) and All Manipur Inter - State Bus Association(AMISBA) launched cease work in protest against the abduction of one of their colleague Thokchom Ingobi (45), a Zed Travels driver, from one Murli hotel at Jhakhalabanda in Assam on June 13.
After closing all their counters in Imphal, the members of the AMNSDWA and AMISBA also staged a sit in protest at the North AOC in Imphal on Thursday.On June 13, driver Ingobi of the Zed Travels bus was kidnapped by suspected members of Manipur based armed group Kangleipak Communist Party (MC) Lamyanba Khuman in connection with the monetary demand from the bus owner and the respective counter, according to AMNSDWA and AMISBA sources.
In view of the development, the usual Imphal-Dimapur, Imphal-Shillong, Imphal-Guwahati tourist (night super bus services) bus services have been suspended.
Founder member of the AMNSDWA Mohendro speaking to media on the sideline of the sit in protest, appealed to release the abducted driver Ingobi safe and sound. The suspension of the bus is likely to continue on the Imphal-Dimapur-Guwahati (National highway 2) till the demands are fulfilled.
Hospital employees threaten strike
The Jawaharal Nehru Hospital Non Gazetted Employees Welfare Association today submitted an ultimatum to the Director of Health Services and Director of Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Science(JNIMS) urging them to stop absorption process of the Health Service Employees of the JN Hospital to the JNIMS within 72 hours from tomorrow onwards.
In a press conference held at the Manipur Press Club this afternoon, Non-Gazetted employee Association’s Secretary Okran Kirankumar Singh warned that if the government and JNIMS authority failed to take a decision within 72 hours of submitting the ultimatum, then the association will go for cease work strike from the next hour.
He further said with the absorption of their service to the JNIMS will lose all their service benefits particularly the pension schemes that is the right of the employees.All the employees of the State Health Services have been transferred to the JNIMS on deputation. Doctors, Nurses and other para medicines staffs are including in the welfare association and their service will be disturbed after the cease strike, he added.
