Imphal, Jan. 14 (EMN): Manipur has won the award for ‘Most improved small states overall’ on India Today’s state of the state survey for the third consecutive year.
To celebrate the award, the Manipur government on Saturday observed a state level celebration with a banner ‘Emerging Manipur 2023’.
Manipur won the award after its performance in eight out of 12 categories - economy, infrastructure, agriculture, health, governance, entrepreneurship, tourism, and cleanliness.
“This is the third consecutive year that Manipur ranked the top slot among the small states in the country,” said a government statement.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister N Biren Singh said that the government is implementing numerous developmental projects for the welfare of the people in various sectors.
Informing that the government aims to improve health care facilities in the state, he stated that the priority of the BJP 2.0 government is to provide super specialist doctors in every hill district hospitals. He mentioned that a Tele-ICU Hub has also been inaugurated and most of the District Hospitals in the far-flung areas can perform complicated operations, treat critically ill patients with the help of super specialist doctors.
On the problems caused by deforestation, Biren singh asked the forest officials to educate the people on forest related laws and implement the same.
Survey of forest areas will be conducted with the help of helicopters and drones and any poppy plantation will be destroyed, he added while directing the police and forest department not to spare anyone found guilty of destroying the forest by cultivating poppy plants.
To promote sustainable economic growth and generate large scale employment opportunities in Manipur, Biren Singh launched the Manipur Start up 2.0 during the event.
It may be recalled that the government has implemented various welfare schemes, citizen centric initiatives such as Go to Village, Go to Hills, Meeyamgi Numit, Hill Leaders’ Day, CMHT-health scheme, CMST-welfare scheme, CM Health for All, Subdivision Development Monitoring Mission, CM Da Haisi and War on Drugs, etc.
The government is implementing Externally Aided Projects worth INR 5712 crore and has another INR 9141 crore worth projects in the pipeline.
