IMPHAL — Proposals have been sent to the Ministry of Education (MOE) to open new Kendriya Vidyalayas in several districts of Manipur, including Senapati, Kakching, Thoubal, Kamjong, and other underserved regions where KVs are yet to be established.
Deputy Commissioner T Pritam Singh of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS), Tinsukia region, made the proposal during a courtesy call on the Secretary of Department of Higher Education, MOE, Dr. Vineet Joshi, on Friday.
Informing this in a press release, Principal of Kendriya Vidyalaya No.1 Imphal said, “During the meeting important matters concerning the development of education in the North Eastern region with special emphasis of Manipur were discussed.”
Pritam Singh apprised Dr. Joshi of the ongoing initiatives of KVS to expand access to quality education across the North East by establishing a greater number of Kendriya Vidyalayas, the release stated.
“The proposed expansion is expected to significantly enhance access to quality education, benefiting students and strengthening the educational landscapes of these areas.”
“He (Pritam Singh) also informed Dr. Joshi about the construction of permanent buildings of several Kendriya Vidyalayas of Tinsukia region that is currently underway such as KV No.1 Imphal (Lamphelpat), KV No.2 Imphal (Langjing), KV No.3 Imphal (Leimakhong), KV Ukhrul, KV Tamenglong, KV Dibrugarh, KV Ranga Pahar etc.”
Dr. Joshi has assured that he will do his utmost to ensure that assistance and support from the ministry is extended in resolving all issues so that the education system in the North East and Manipur can be developed and be at par with the best in the country, the release added.
