Manipur Technical University marked its 10th foundation day with a focus on NEP 2020, innovation, and future-ready disciplines.

IMPHAL — Manipur Technical University (MTU) celebrated its 10th foundation day on Tuesday in the presence of several dignitaries, including the Governor of Manipur, Ajay Kumar Bhalla.
Addressing the gathering, the governor, who is also the chancellor of MTU, highlighted the remarkable growth since its establishment in 2016 as the first and only state-run technical university in Manipur.
Praising the university’s rapid academic growth, its alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, and its progress towards becoming a hub for innovation, research, and industry collaboration in the region, the governor underscored the pivotal role MTU has played in advancing high-quality technical education within the region over the past decade.

Encouraging greater exposure and academic collaboration, he emphasised the importance of establishing student and faculty exchange programmes with other institutions. Furthermore, he urged the introduction of future-orientated disciplines—such as artificial intelligence, robotics, and data science—to remain aligned with emerging global trends.
He also appealed to elevate the institution to be a beacon of hope and excellence, not just for Manipur but for the entire northeastern region of India.
In his speech, Vice Chancellor W Chandbabu Singh of Dhanamanjuri University emphasised the remarkable growth MTU has undergone over the past nine years, highlighting advances in infrastructure and research, while Registrar Ramananda Nongmeikapam of MTU expressed delight in announcing the opening of PhD programmes in various disciplines.
A video titled “A Decade of Excellence – Journey of MTU” was also screened during the day’s event.
