IMPHAL — The security forces in Manipur are taking up all-out efforts to trace the whereabouts of a 20-year-old missing youth by launching search operations in all suspected areas.
Sharing an information on X, Manipur Police on Tuesday wrote, “On 17.03.2025 at about 11:00 am, a missing person report on 16.03.2025 of one Luwangthem Mukesh (20) of Keishampat Leimajam Leikai, Imphal West was reported to OC Imphal Police Station.”
“On receipt of the report, an inquiry has been initiated. All out efforts are ongoing to trace the missing person by the Police Department and Security Forces by launching search operations in all suspected areas," police added.
According to a complaint note lodged at Imphal Police station requesting police to trace their missing son at the earliest, it stated that Mukesh went out on one Maruti auto car 800 (MN05J-0018) from his residence at Keishampat Leimajam Leikai in Imphal West District around 2 pm on Sunday and did not turn up till date.
“We have searched his whereabouts through our relatives and near and dear ones but could not find out till date. He also possessed one mobile phone when he went out,” the complaint note said.
Meanwhile, the women of Keishampat area in Imphal on Tuesday staged a sit-in protest at Keishampat in connection with the disappearance of Mukesh from Keishampat Leimajam Leikai in Imphal West. Following the protest, demonstrators marched to the Chief Secretary’s office to submit a memorandum, urging authorities to take swift action to locate the missing youth.
Manipur has been witnessing a series of unwanted incidents after the May 3 incident in 2023, when a student rally turned violent in Churachandpur district and subsequently the violent acts spread in other parts of the state in which more than 250 people have lost their lives, while more than 50,000 people were rendered homeless.
