More than 250 internally displaced persons from a village in Manipur’s Bishnupur district have been resettled.

IMPHAL — More than 250 internally displaced persons (IDPs) from a village in Manipur’s Bishnupur district have been resettled on Thursday.
Deputy Commissioner Pooja Elangbam of Bishnupur flagged off 257 IDPs (from 64 households) from Leimaram High School Relief Camp, marking their resettlement at Leimaram Waroiching under Nambol sub-division's revenue jurisdiction at village number 27-Sadu Koireng.
Addressing the gathering prior to the flag-off, the DC stated that the event marks a significant and meaningful moment, as many IDPs are able to return to their homes.

Highlighting that the return signifies a positive step towards building a better and peaceful society, Elangbam informed that the government has already disbursed funds to the families heading back to Waroiching to support the redevelopment of their abandoned houses.
She mentioned that the next instalments would also be released soon. Reaffirming the government's continued support, the DC emphasised that Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) assistance would continue for all individuals returning to their respective homes that day.
Encouraging the IDPs, she advised them to utilise the financial assistance provided by the government well.
Elangbam also extended her best wishes to all families for a stable and hopeful future. Highlighting the importance of education, she noted that students would now be able to resume their academic journey from their respective homes. She also mentioned that the scholarship amount for students under Mission Vatsalya would soon be credited, which would help in improving the condition and opportunities for the students.
ADM Bishnupur Toijam Opendro, SDO (Nambol) T Shyamkumer and other officials were present at the flag-off site. At Waroiching, Th Shangkar Deba, SP Bishnupur led the security team as the resettlement process took place.
Later day, the deputy commissioner/district mission director of Manipur State Rural Livelihoods Mission (MSRLM), Bishnupur, distributed cheques worth INR 16.5 lakh to 11 SHGs of Shingel Nura VLF, Toubul, under MSRLM Bishnupur. The community investment fund was handed over in the presence of DMM Angom Amarjit and concerned officials at the DC's chamber, Mini Secretariat Complex, Bishnupur.
