IMPHAL: A day after Manipur reported a new COVID-19 positive case, another positive case was reported from Imphal East district, official sources said on Sunday.
In a second positive case, a 22-year-old male from Chekon area in Imphal East district was found COVID-19 positive by Rapid Antigen Test at JNIMS Hospital after detecting the first case on Saturday evening, according to a press release. It informed that two new cases of COVID-19 were reported on April 1. It, however, stated that all necessary containment measures have been taken up.
[bsa_pro_ad_space id=1]The new positive case was detected when 13 samples collected from five districts of the state namely Bishnupur, Imphal East, Imphal West, Kakching and Tamenglong were sent for testing, taking the state’s total infection tally to 1,39,926
The total number of recovered COVID-19 cases in Manipur is 1,37,775. The state’s recovery rate stands at 98.46%, the government official said.
Meanwhile, no person was administered COVID-19 vaccine dose on April 1, 2023. The cumulative doses are 32,69,105 (1st dose 1,64,9470, 2nd dose 1,33,9219 and precautionary dose 2,80,416), according to state immunisation officer.
In view of the recent surge of COVID-19 cases in many parts of the country, Manipur state health authority has issued an advisory asking the public to wear masks in crowded and closed settings, promote testing and early reporting of symptoms and maintaining hand hygiene/ frequent washing of hands etc.
It may be recalled that the first COVID-19 positive case in Manipur was reported on March 24, 2020, while the first death case due to the pandemic was reported on July 29 the same year.
