Imphal, July 6 (EMN): Manipur reported 863 new Covid-19 cases on Tuesday taking the state’s tally to 73,581, according to a press release from the Health department.
The new positive cases were detected from 16 districts in the state and maximum numbers of cases were reported from Imphal West (298), Imphal East (125), and Kakching (96) districts.
Meanwhile, the state reported 14 Covid-19 fatalities in the last 24 hours, taking the state’s Covid-19 death toll to 1218, it said. The victims are from Imphal East (five), Thoubal (four), Imphal West (two), Kangpokpi (two) and Bishnupur (one) districts. They expired at six health centres in the state.
On the other hand, with 592 new recoveries including 218 from home isolation facilities in the last 24 hours, the total number of recovered Covid-19 cases in Manipur reached 66,132, the release said. Thus, Manipur’s recovery rate stands at 89.87 percent.
Out of total recovered cases, 62,346 are from the general population while the remaining 3,786 are Central security personnel, it said.
As of Tuesday 9,28,312 persons were tested for Covid-19 while 6,99,835 persons were screened at the entry points of the state at the various testing centres in the state, it said.
So far, the state has given 7,69,107 doses of Covid vaccines including 6,81,679 first and 87,428 second doses to the residents.
Till date, the first dose of Covishield vaccine was given to 1,95,125 people between 45-59 years and 1,06,189 people above 60 years besides 2,50,188 people between 18-44 years.
The total number of healthcare workers vaccinated for both the first and second doses of Covishield vaccine is 65,275 while 1,52,330 frontline workers received both doses.
Meanwhile, Manipur police today detained 184 persons across the state for violating health protocols and released them after giving warning. An amount of INR 59,950 was also collected as fine.
