  • The state government has urged the public to remain calm while continuing to follow COVID-appropriate behaviour such as masking, hand hygiene, and social distancing. Officials stated that these precautionary steps are intended to ensure public safety and preparedness in case of a further rise in cases.

  •  On Thursday, the Manipur government reconstituted and designated 19 specialised committees to enhance the state’s COVID-19 control measures. Issued through a memorandum dated June 12, the order supersedes all previous notifications. Each committee is headed by a designated team leader and includes members from various departments to address responsibilities ranging from hospital readiness to communication and logistics.

  • Manipur first reported a COVID-19 case on March 24, 2020, and recorded its first fatality on July 29 the same year. The state had previously achieved a brief COVID-free status in mid-May 2022, with no active cases at the time.
