Manipur Police have strengthened the ERSS-112 system, integrating multiple emergency services under a single platform.
IMPHAL — Manipur Police have strengthened the Emergency Response Support System (ERSS-112) in compliance with the directions of the Supreme Court and as part of the Government of India’s initiative to establish a unified emergency response mechanism across the country.
In a press release, DIG M. Pradip Singh said the integrated platform has been developed to provide citizens with prompt, coordinated and accessible emergency assistance through the single emergency number 112.
The system integrates multiple emergency services under one platform, enabling faster coordination among different service providers. Citizens can dial 112 to access Police Emergency Services (100), Fire and Emergency Services (101), NHM Referral Transport/Ambulance Services (102), Women Helpline (181), Child Helpline (1098), State Disaster Response (1017), and Transport Department SOS/Vehicle Panic Button services.
According to the release, the integrated system offers several advantages, including a single emergency number for multiple services, round-the-clock emergency response, enhanced coordination among police, fire, health and other agencies, quicker identification and routing of emergency calls, improved response through technology-enabled call management, and strengthened public safety through a unified emergency response mechanism.
DIG Pradip stated that Police Emergency (100), Women Helpline (181), Child Helpline (1098), State Disaster Response (1017), and Transport Department SOS/Panic Button services have already been integrated and are operational under ERSS-112.
