Imphal, April 8 (EMN): Manipur police have arrested three Rohingya persons including a woman from Moreh, the border commercial town and India’s gateway to Southeast Asia, 110 km south of Imphal, police informed on Sunday.
The three Rohingyas were arrested in an operation based on reliable information that some Rohingya from Myanmar are staying at Muslim basti, Moreh ward number 5 with trafficked girls from foreign country on Saturday around 8:30 pm.
Superintendent of Police Dr. S Ibomcha, on Sunday told reporters that the two men were arrested for their alleged involvement in human trafficking, while the woman for not having valid document.
The two arrested men suspected to be traffickers have been identified as Mohd Saifullah (34) son of Kashim Abdul of Arakan district under Maundaw police station, Baguna Nulafara of Myanmar and Md Salam (25) son of Mujafar Ali of Arakan district under Teri police station, Butidong of Myanmar. The woman who is suspected to be trafficked by the above two is identified as Toiba Hatu Alias Nargis (20) daughter of Abu Subiyan of Maungdaw Baguna Madila Bhara of Myanmar. They were arrested from a rented house at Moreh ward No. 5.
The arrested men have disclosed that they along with one Md Ismail of Mayang Imphal Bengoon under Imphal West district were involved in trafficking of Rohingya girls from Myanmar to different parts of the World including India, the superintendent said.
According to the officer, the owner of the rented house of one Maulana Ahmed Hussain (50) of Moreh ward No. 2 and Md Ismail are still at large. A case has been registered for further investigation.
One card issued by United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and one Aadhar card have been recovered from possession of Mohd Saifullah while the other two failed to produce no valid documents, he added.
