IMPHAL, AUGUST 26: Manipur sportspersons who represented the country at the recently concluded Rio Olympics were accorded hero's welcome on their arrival at Imphal International Airport in Imphal on Friday. The players who arrived in Imphal on Friday include Hockey men’s players Kh Kothajit, Chinglensana Kangujam, women hockey captain Ph Sushila and Anuradha.
Earlier the state government, in an effort to promote sports and encourage the 6 Manipur sportspersons in Rio Olympics, had announced cash awards not only for the sportspersons but their parents too.The government has decided to award cash prize of Rs 2 crore to gold medal winners of Rio Olympics, Rs 1.5 crore to silver medalists and Rs 1 crore each to bronze medalists while Rs 50 lakh each for every participants.
Unlike the past, the state government is also all set to honour the parents of these sports persons by giving cash reward of Rs 2 lakh each.
