Imphal, Sep. 30 (EMN): Manipur state on Sunday observed the 122nd birth anniversary of Jana Neta Hijam Irawat, a well known politician and social activist in Manipur.
The first state-level ‘Jana Neta Irawat’ day was organised at BT park in Imphal with the state Chief Minister N Biren Singh and Deputy Chief Minister Y Joykumar, Arts And Culture Minister L Jayentakumar.
The chief minister and dignitaries paid floral tributes to the portraits Irawat. Prior to the day’s observation, the foundation stone of the statue of Irawat was dedicated at Irawat Square, Thangmeiband.
Meanwhile, Information and Public Relation Minister Thongam Biswajit Singh also attended the anniversaries programme of Lamyanba Hijam Irabot and Athouba Ibungohalmani at Leishang Hiden Heritage wherein he inaugurated Leishang Hiden Heritage Tourist Park and cafeteria.
The day was also observed at Hojai in Assam with State Revenue Minister Karam Shyam while similar observation was held at Irawat Memorial Complex at Jiribam district. Minister of Forest and Environment, Horticulture and Soil Conservation Th Shyamkumar and officials attended the observation programme and paid floral tribute the laeder.
In commemoration of the birth anniversary of Janeta Irawat, local clubs and social organisations besides the government agencies conducted cleanliness drive.
