Dimapur, August 24: The Manipur unit of the Naga Peoples’ Front (NPF) has cautioned that the “Manipur Regulation of Non-Local People, Act 2016” will harm the people of Manipur if passed in the state’s legislative assembly. The unit issued a press release on Wednesday.
“Manipur Regulation of Non-Local People, Act 2016 if introduced and passed in the Legislative Assembly of Manipur will harm the people of Manipur. The proposed legislation will clearly go against the interest of the Hill People and equally harm the people in the Valley,” the NPF stated. However, if the government insists on it, “let it be done so in the valley districts and the same shall not be extended in the hill areas of Manipur” for a number of reasons, the press release stated.
