IMPHAL, APRIL 29
Manipur People’s Party (MPP) urged the Congress-led state government to the guide the people of the state to real development by delivering good administration and by stopping the act of acquiring personal properties by the ministers and MLAs.
In a hard-hitting press statement released by MPP, the party accused the present ministers and MLAs for failing to deliver their assigned roles and responsibilities, and instead remaining busy in making false claims and expanding their personal assets. Mere construction of big buildings and driving fancy cars cannot be accounted as development, as real development lies in the welfare of the common people.
It also lambasted the act of reserving governmental contract works only for the near and dear ones of MLAs/ministers and influential persons, and questioned the fate of the common educated people of the state if this trend continues.
MPP also demanded that the people of the state need real development and public-interest decisions of the government, and not just beautiful and grand Assembly Complex.
Ministers and MLAs are busy inaugurating waiting sheds, community halls, and in distributing Old-Aged Pensions, materials of Housing Schemes, which in actual should be done by government officials concerned. As they are busy doing this, the real need of the people such as petrol and LPG are deprived and resulted in black marketers doing their freewill.
In such a scenario, days will be near when ministers and MLAs start distributing government salaries even, said the press statement.
MPP further appealed the state government to first finish the UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi-inaugurated projects such ISBT and other projects such as Imphal-Jiri Road and Sanjenthong bridge construction properly and in time, before inaugurating less-significant works such as waiting shed, mini offices, community halls etc.
