Imphal, Nov. 11 (EMN): Manipur’s outer Lok Sabha MP Dr. Lorho S Pfoze launched Pallel Gram Panchayat as Adarsh Gram (model village) in Kakching district under Sanshad Adarsh Gram Yojana (SAGY).
The launching programme was organised by the district administration, Kakching at Pallel Maning community hall, Pallel Gram Panchayat, Kakching district on November 9.
A foundation stone of Pallel Model Gram Panchayat under SAGY was also inaugurated by the MP.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Lorho said that for successful implementation of model village under SAGY, active participation of people of the area is a must.
They must contribute their good gesture in respect of hospitality, ways of approach, sanitation etc. Those residing within the model villages should be an example to others. He also announced to contribute INR 10 lakh as the first phase for development of the model village.
Pallel Gram Panchayat Model village includes three villages, Sora, Pallel and Bijoypur. As part of the day's programme, Thang ta performance was displayed by Kha Manipur Thangta Academy, Pallel.
In his welcome address, deputy commissioner, Kakching, Somorjit Salam said it was very fortunate that the MP had selected Pallel Gram Panchayat as a model village. He urged the people of the area to actively participate in maintaining the status of being a model village in all spheres.
In his keynote, state nodal officer (SAGY), Kh Ibochouba Singh, said SAGY was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on October 11, 2014. The SAGY is a rural development programme broadly focusing on development of villages in eight sectors including personal development, social development, human development, economic development, environmental development, social security, basic amenities and good governance.
