Imphal, Oct. 28: A day after Rajya Sabha MP Kh Bhabananda’s announcement to adopt two villages including Kwatha as model villages in Manipur, state health minister L Jayantakumar assured that the Primary Health Sub Centre at Kwatha village will be upgraded into a Primary Health Centre.
Kwatha which is a small remote hamlet,about 100 km south of Imphal is located in Manipur’s newly created Tengnoupal district bordering Myanmar.
Rajya Sabha MP Kh Bhabananda has also announced that two villages -Kwatha in Tengnoupal district and Takhel in Imphal East district as model villages in Manipur.
Minister Jayantakumar also informed that the construction of Kwatha PHC is already in the work programme list of the government. For the purpose, required fund has already been earmarked, he added.
Besides he also maintained that a cultural site will also be constructed at Kwatha village to preserve the Ancient Cultural Traditions of Manipur.
Minister Jayantakumar made the announcement during his inspection visit at Moreh Hospital and PHC, Moreh on Saturday.
He interacted with the staff of District Hospital, Moreh and assured that the basic requirement of Moreh Hospital and PHC, Moreh will be provided as intimated and proposed by the Staff and locals.
He also inspected the site for the construction of Food Safety Office at Moreh. Regarding the requirement of Food Safety Office at Moreh, he said that being a border town, functioning of such facilities is very much needed. The food items come from Myanmar and China need to be quality tested, he added.
He also inspected the progress of the construction of Barrack Type Quarter at the complex of PHC, Moreh near Moreh Police Station. He showed dissatisfaction to the slow progress of the construction. Prior to his visit at District Hospital and PHC Moreh, Minister inspected the site for the construction of Cultural Centre, Moreh.
Minister was accompanied by Keirao MLA L Remeshwor Meitei, Health Secretary Sumant Singh, Health Director Dr K Rajo, Director AYUSH, Dr Guneshore Sharma, Joint Director Art & Culture, Keshorjit and officials from Health Department.
