Imphal, Jan. 13:Manipur’s former Trinamool Congress MLA Thounaojam Shyamkumar, who joined the ruling Indian National Congress in September last year, on Friday rejected allegations that he is a close associate of the self-styled chief of the banned Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP Poirei Meitei), Khoirom Ranjit alias Ranjit (35), who was arrested in New Delhi.
Shyamkumar, who represents the Andro Constituency issued a clarification in this regard during a media interaction.
On Thursday morning, Ranjit alias Rocky was arrested along with a woman associate, Inugbam Sanatombi Devi, from east Delhi’s Mayur Vihar by the Delhi Police special cell when the duo had come to meet an associate in Delhi, according to reports.
