
IMPHAL — With an objective to start agricultural activities in Manipur, Health & Information & Public Relations Minister Dr. Sapam Ranjan Singh on Monday visited foothills in Konthoujam Assembly Constituency in Imphal West district and inspected cultivable sites of the area.
It may be mentioned that due to the present crisis in the state, agricultural activities are in halt in the foothills.
[bsa_pro_ad_space id=1]Ranjan Singh was accompanied by officers and personnel of Border Security Force, Assam Riffles, Gorkha Riffles and state armed forces.
The minister visited Kangmong Meisnam, Langoljam Loukon, Hegrujam Loukon, Keithelmanbi, Moidangpok Loukon, etc.
He also advised the security personnel stationed at the area to be ready to assist and protect the farmers during their agricultural activities while adding that measures have been taken up to provide irrigation to the paddy fields by constructing check dams and storing water of the small streams from the hills.
Rice sale point opened at violence hit Churachandpur district
A new sale point for OMSS (open market sale scheme) rice was opened at S Kawtlian Village in the violence hit Churachandpur district on Monday taking the total of such sales points to four.
According to official sources, Deputy Commissioner, Dharun Kumar S; Additional DCs Khaikhopau Ngaihte and Jameson Hangsing opened the OMSS rice sale point.
Other sales points are at Mini-Secretariat Complex, Tuibong; ADCC Town Office, Hiangtam Lamka and Lamka South Block Development office, Khominthang.
At present, rice is being distributed at the rate of INR 32 per kg to the public where each household is entitled to 5 kg of rice per day under the scheme.
