All Manipur Working Journalists Union strongly condemns the atrocious police action on a lady journalist and her cameraperson of DY 365 when they were gathering news of the appalling state of a Police quarter in Guwahati. AMWJU said it considered the action as an attack on the freedom of press and demands prompt redressal from concerned authorities of the Assam Police and the Government of Assam by delivering befitting punishment to the guilty personnel. “Further, to prevent such acts from recurring in future, the Union also backs Journalists’ Federation of Assam and Electronic Media Forum Assam and Journalists' Forum Assam and any other civil society organization in demanding strong and immediate action against the guilty personnel,” AMWJU added.
