Manipur government declares all Saturdays working days for offices, suspending five-day week temporarily to improve administrative efficiency statewide.

IMPHAL — Manipur government has declared all Saturdays as working days for government offices across the state as a temporary administrative measure.
In a notification, Joint Secretary Thokchom Bedajit of the General Administration department stated, “The Governor of Manipur is pleased to declare all Saturdays, except those falling on general holidays, as working days for all government offices, including autonomous bodies, institutions, corporations, societies, boards and public sector undertakings (PSUs), as a temporary measure until further orders.”
The notification added that the order has been issued with the approval of the competent authority.

Officials said that the move is aimed at ensuring smooth functioning of government work and improving administrative efficiency.
Earlier, the state government had introduced a five-day work week (Monday to Friday) for its offices with effect from April 1, 2022.
As per the existing system, office hours during winter (November to February) are from 9 am to 5 pm, while in summer (March to October) they are from 9 am to 5.30 pm, with a lunch break from 1 pm to 1.30 pm.
