Imphal, June 23 (EMN): Manipur on Wednesday recorded 629 fresh Covid cases out of 5,336 samples tested in the last 24 hours, taking the state's total infection tally to 65,622, besides decreasing the total number of active cases to 9,291.
As per the press release from the Health department, the new positive cases were detected from 15 districts in the state and maximum numbers of cases were reported from Imphal West (150), Imphal East (102) and Churachandpur (94) districts.
Meanwhile, the state reported nine Covid-19 deaths, taking the state’s death toll to 1074, according to a press release. Of the nine deaths from four health centres in the state, Imphal West and Imphal East reported three deaths, while Bishnupur, Noney and Churachandpur reported one death each.
On the other hand, with 543 new recoveries including 221 from home isolation facilities in the last 24 hours, the total number of recovered Covid-19 cases in Manipur reached 55,257. Thus the recovery rate stands at 84.20 percent.
Out of total recovered cases, 51,436 are from the general population while the remaining 3,761 are central security personnel, the release said.
As of June 23, 6,91,638 persons were screened at the entry points of the state while 8,69,552 persons were tested for Covid-19 at the various testing centres in the state
Meanwhile, Manipur police detained 303 persons across the state for violating health protocols and released them after giving warning. An amount of INR 1,17,950 was also collected as fine.
So far the state has administered 5,86,830 anti-Covid jabs including 5,04,276 first and 82,554 second doses to the residents.
The total number of healthcare workers vaccinated for both the first and second doses of Covishield vaccine is 64,805 while 1,50,536 frontline workers received both doses. Till date, the first dose of Covishield vaccine was given to 1,59,847 people between 45-59 years and 95,813 people above 60 years besides 1,15,829 people between 18-44 years.
