Imphal, Nov. 20 (EMN): The first ever battery operated vehicle service in Manipur has been introduced at the state’s historic Kangla fort complex on Monday.
Chief Minister Nongthombam Biren Singh accompanied by the state arts and culture minister Langpokpakpam Jayentakumar Singh and other state officials experienced the first ever ride within the well conserved forest area of the fort soon after the formal launching session at Kangla western gate on Monday morning.
Interestingly for the first phase, four battery operated vehicles have been made operational and every vehicle will have a trained tour guide each.
Speaking on the launching function, Chief Minister Biren expressed hope that the newly launched vehicle service would give convenience to visitors especially senior citizens and differently-abled persons, who wish to sightsee the historic fort.
He also expressed his desire to have a coffee table book on Kangla, which has vital information about the sacred fort.
He said victimising of helpless police personnel and unwanted ill-treatment meted out to police personnel/officer and government employees would not be tolerated in any form.
Likewise, employees who indulge in any form of irregularity would also face stern action from the government, he added. State’s Art and Culture Minister Jayantakumar also attended the inaugural function.
