Imphal, Nov. 13 (EMN): The Manipur International Textile Expo known as Manitex is underway at the Trade & Expo Centre, Lamboi Khongnangkhong in Imphal town. The 11 days event which began from November 5 is being organised by the Directorate of Handlooms and Textiles, Government of Manipur.
Attending the 7th day programme as the chief guest, minister for Consumers affairs food and Public Distribution Minister, Karam Shyam said that experts in the realm of handlooms and textiles are endowed with the creativity and design potential to carve a unique identity of Manipur on the global map. Appreciating the role played by the women in bringing development in the state, he said that Manipur will improve only when their financial condition show progress.
“Manitex is platform for promoting the survival and revival of the deteriorating situation of handlooms and textiles industries of the state,” Shyam said. Dr. Ch Ibohal of Manipur Institute of Management and Studies, Manipur University, who was the resource person on e-marketing , spoke on marketing strategy — USP, creating a brand image, economies of scale and organising design workshops that will enhance our competitiveness in the global arena.
Thoudam Shanti Devi of Kwairamband Keithel Saktam Kanba Lup and Th Rani Devi of Kwairamband Keithel, Sinpham Kanba Lup were awarded cash prize of INR 1 lakh each for their remarkable contribution in the field of handlooms and handicrafts.
