IMPHAL — Manipur education minister Thounaojam Basantakumar Singh on Thursday announced the results of the High school leaving certificate (HSLC) of Board of Secondary Education, Manipur (BoSEM).
The pass percentage reached 82.82%, highest in the last ten years since 2014 excluding the Covid 19 pandemic period of 2021 wherein the government announced the results, registering an overall pass percentage of 100 percent following an evaluation mechanism.
[bsa_pro_ad_space id=1]Out of 37,870 students, 31,365 including 18,142 male, 18,545 female, 579 male external and 604 female external students passed the examination.
Yengkhom Pareihanba of Ratankumar Memorial School Kwakeithel Heinoukhongnembi (RMSKH), secured the first position in the examination with 594 out of 600 marks.
Last year Rahul Laishram of Catholic school, Canchipur secured the first position in the Manipur HSLC examination with 586 out of 600 marks.
Omega Chanu Wangkhem and Venus Laiphraikpam, both from RMSKH in Imphal jointly bagged second position with 591 marks each while Ophelia Chanu Ngangom of RMSKH, Sanchita Thokchom and Silvia Mutum of RMSKH jointly bagged the third spot with 588 marks each.
Out of 31,365 successful students, 21,405 secured 1st division, 9668 secured 2nd division and 292 3rd scored division.
Though no student from government schools was listed among the first 25 position holders, their pass percentage has reached 66.96 % this time. Altogether 5401 students out of 8065 government school students passed in the examination.
Among the districts, Thoubal and Kakching secured the highest pass percentage of 89.62 % against last year’s 93.24% while Chandel and Tengnoupal scored the least pass percentage of 75.09 against last year’s 56.31% ( Pherzawl and Churachandpur).
Students who have appeared in the HSLC examination can check the results at the official website www.manresults.nic.in, officials added.
Summer vacation period extended
In view of the prevailing law and order situation, the Manipur government is further notified to continue the summer vacation of all schools in the state till June 19, 2023.
The Directorate of Education (Schools), Government of Manipur last extended the summer vacation of all schools in the state till June 15, 2023 after the state education minister The Basantakumar had initially announced summer vacation for all schools from May 4 to the May 30th.
Manipur has around 1110 schools which include 643 private schools, 384 government schools and 83 aided schools, according to Board of Secondary Education, Manipur (BoSEM).
The summer vacation of all the educational institutions in Manipur has been pre-poned from the normal calendar in view of the prevailing situation in the state.
Meanwhile, in a notification issued in Imphal, the BoSEM secretary had informed that violence affected students who are displaced and willing to transfer to the nearest feasible school of their choice are allowed to transfer from Class IX to IX, Class IX to X, Class X to X (both BoSEM to BoSEM and other Board to BoSEM) at free of cost.
To make up for learning losses, the state education department has also started to provide learning materials to displaced school children who are presently taking shelter at the temporary relief in the state from May 21, 2023.
