Imphal, Aug. 3 (EMN): Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Wednesday informed the assembly that there are a total of 2,743 revenue villages in the state and the state authority has received 55 other new applications seeking for village recognition as revenue districts of the state.
The 55 new applications seeking village recognition as revenue districts include 26 from Tamenglong, 11 in Churachandpur, ten in Tengnoupal, six in Senapati and two in Kamjong districts.
Biren Singh was replying to a question by opposition congress MLA K Ranjit Singh of Sugunu assembly constituency during the day’s question hour of the ongoing 12th Manipur legislative assembly.
Expressing concern over declaration of the village as revenue village by a Principal Chief Conservator of Forest at his individual capacity in 2011, he also appealed to all bureaucrats in the present government to strictly implement the rule of law while giving recognition for new revenue villages in the state. He said, the state cabinet approval is required for declaring a revenue village after examining the recommendations by the Autonomous District Council, Tribal Affairs and Hills and Revenue departments.
He said, ‘it is alarming to get to know that 1039 more villages are waiting for recognition. So it should be the responsibility of all of us for the future generation.’
On the other hand, Social Welfare Minister Heikham Dingo, while responding to a question by Thangmeiband MLA Joykisan Singh, informed the house that there are 11,510 Anganwadi centres in Manipur out of which 9,958 are main Anganwadi centres and 1552 Mini Anganwadi centres.
The minister further mentioned the following criteria of establishing Anganwadi Centres - one Anganwadi centre for Urban/Rural on 400-800 population, mini Anganwadi centre on 150-400 population and for tribal/hilly/difficult area, one Anganwadi centre on 300-800 population while for mini Anganwadi centre on 150-300 population.
While replying to another question raised by JD(U) MLA Kh Joykisan Singh of Thangmeiband constituency, Tribal Affairs & Hills Minister Letpao Haokip stated that the Union Ministry for Development of Tribal Areas have sanctioned INR 40,750.273 lakhs from 2012 till date.
