Manipur Guv vouches for cultural university

Imphal, Dec. 7: Manipur Governor Dr Najma A Heptulla on Wednesday said that Manipur is the right place to have a Cultural University. Dr Heptulla was speaking at a special Cultural Programme organised at Chandrakriti Auditorium,Palace Compound here this evening. The special Cultural Programme was jointly organised by the Manipur State Council of Indian Society for Cultural Cooperation and Friendship and Department of Art & Culture, Government of Manipur to showcase the Nachom dance, Kathak and a Manipuri Ballet based on Viswakavi Rabindranath Tagore’s famous short story “Kabuliwallah” performed by artistes of the Manipur Jagoi Marup. As part of the programme, Governor also released a book ‘Meitei Inatki Isei”. Commenting on it, she said ‘the cultural programme was really amazing and Manipur is rich in Culture, Art and Music. She also congratulated the dancers, choreographer and producer saying the Cultural performance by various artistes were excellence. The Governor also handed over Certificates to the Artistes during the day’s programme which was attended by Vice Chancellor of Manipur University of Culture Prof N Khagendra, Managing Trustees of Alvas Education Foundation, Karnakata Vivek Alva and Visiting Professor of Arizona University, USA Dr Sunilmar Sarkar.
