Imphal, April 9: In a noble move to provide easy access to the elected representatives and top bureaucrats on every month, Bharatiya Janata Party-led coalition government in Manipur is all set to announce 15th of every month as ‘Meeyamgi Numit’ (People’s Day).
Announcing this at a reception function by the women vendors of Nupi Keithel, women’s market here on Sunday, BJP’s first Chief Minister Nongthombam Biren Singh said a formal official order would be issued soon in this regard.
Stating that his government is fully committed to work tirelessly in the interest of the people of Manipur, he said the public would be allowed to meet the Chief Minister, Ministers, Commissioners, Secretaries, Deputy Commissioners and SPs to lodge their complaints and air their grievances on the 15th of every month.
He said that ending UNC-sponsored economic blockade, resolving Churachandpur issue and revamping Imphal-Jiribam sector of the NH-37 were the three tasks which he had decided to do first soon after he was sworn-in as the Chief Minister.
Stating that the first round of talks with JAC Churachandpur comes to an end on a positive note, he expressed hope that the impasse would be resolved within a few days.
He said he would personally inspect the repairing works on the Imphal-Jiribam highway which had already been gaining pace, soon.
Regarding the problems of vending space, pollution and traffic congestion in Imphal city, he said that the State now has a competent and dynamic MAHUD Minister and all the problems would be sorted out soon by chalking out a long-term plan.
Every hill district headquarters would now have a women’s market each, he said.The Centre had already sanctioned funds for the said project.
