Appointment cancelled after teacher reported to be presently pursuing studies in Rajasthan had been withdrawing regular salary; teacher’s brother reported to have been working in place of him

Imphal, Jan. 6 (EMN): After suspending five school headmasters for helping five teachers enjoy regular salaries even after their appointment orders had been cancelled for pursuing MBBS and BSc in agriculture, the School Education department has cancelled the appointment of one more primary teacher for pursuing MBBS in a medical college in Rajasthan.
The director of the School Education department of Manipur Th Kirankumar issued an order in this regard on Fri.
The primary teacher whose appointment order was cancelled for pursuing MBBS at JLN Medical College, Ajmer, Rajasthan while being employed as teacher was identified as one W Haripriyo Singh of Thoubal Achouba Bazar Makha Leikai in Manipur’s Thoubal district.
Haripriyo was appointed as a primary teacher on Feb. 26 2012 and posted at was Chandrakhong Peimary school in Thoubal district. Later he was transferred at Chingjaroi Primary school on Sept. 25 2012.
On suspicious ground, the department sought information on whether Haripriyo was undergoing MBBS course and found that he was pursuing the course and his brother was working in his place, according to the government order.
Thus the appointment order was cancelled and the concerned Zonal Education Officer(ZEO Zone III) has been asked to lodge an FIR against Haripriyo for alleged fraudulence and wrongful withdrawal of pay and allowances etc under appropriate Indian penal code within one month time from the issue of the order.
At the same time ZEO Zone III must recover the pay and allowances wrongfully drawn and be deposited in the relevant head of accounts within six months, it added.
It may be mentioned that the five headmasters were suspended for helping five teachers enjoy regular salaries even after their appointment orders were cancelled for pursuing MBBS and BSc Agriculture recently.
The move of the Department of Education (Schools) has been taken up following reports that many primary teachers, graduate teachers and higher secondary teachers have been either pursuing professional courses or working at other places.
