Imphal, Dec.18 (EMN): Manipur Chief Minister Brien Singh on Tuesday announced that more than 1500 minority families have been identified under radhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) housing scheme.
The chief minster disclosed this while speaking at the Minorities Rights Day programme as chief guest at the Chandrakirti auditorium in Imphal. The programme was organised by the Manipur State Minorities Commission
Singh said that the state government has also constituted a state- level committee comprising members cutting across party lines to identify developmental needs at minority dominated areas.
Informing that the government is set to take up various developmental works under a pilot project at minority dominated areas of the state, the chief minister said Lilong being the most important minority area of the state, works for the said project would be taken up first at the locality. However, he added that developmental works would be extended to other minority areas as well.
In order to provide skill development training to minority youths, he said the Industrial Training Institute at Lilong would be upgraded to an advanced skill development training centre.
