Imphal, Oct. 20 (EMN): Manipur Governor Dr. Najma Heptulla on Saturday urged the forum of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe legislators and parliamentarians to promote welfare schemes of SC and ST.
Speaking at the Manipur state conclave on ‘National SC-ST Hub’ at Raj Bhavan in Imphal, Dr. Heptulla suggested organising frequent workshop to motivate the educated youths in the field of skill development and entrepreneurship.
The North Eastern states require skill-based training depending on the natural resources, industry and native trades, she said.
The governor stated that Manipur has tremendous untapped resources which with proper grooming can participate effectively on the road to nation building.
Chief Minister, Minister Tribal Development and Hills N Kayisii, Hill Area Committee Chairman TT Haokip, MLA Chaltonlien Amo also attended as guests.
Chief Minister N Biren Singh who also attended the conclave, said that special focus should be given to SC-ST entrepreneurs who belong to the weaker section of the society. To uplift them economically by giving training is the concern of the governor, he added.
Lauding the governor’s initiatives including the ‘Flying Ambulance,’ promotion of traditional handloom and handicrafts products, he said that his government is working under a motto “What we said we will do, we should deliver.” Under this motto, he said four women markets have been inaugurated in the districts and further informed that market at Senapati, Chandel and Tamenglong will be inaugurated by the first week of next month.
